HI,
I went in for a fill today, was going to have just a 1/2 cc, but went ahead and had a full cc. I have a feeling I may end up back in Shelles office next week having some taken out. I could be too tight. I tried drinking some V-8 juice and had a hard time getting it down. With Lap Band, when things don't go down, you get really burpy. So right now i'm doing a lot of burping(v-8). oh, I thought I could get away with eating a couple jalepeno/green olives...LOVE EM! They're stuck. It's been about an hour now.
It will definately be interesting to see how things go over the week end. As uncomfortable as I am right now, it's my own fault, I should have known better but couldn't resist those darn olives.
I will check in in the next couple days and let you know how i'm doing!
Enjoy the week end!

I registered for the Fargo Marathon!
I did it! I actually registered for the Fargo Marathon! Thank you Kim Bergman at Center Court Fitness in Grand Forks. Kim told me I could/should do it, thanks for having faith in me!
And my brother in law Jay Nelson for the encouraging words:
"It is really impressive that you are taking an active role in your health. I can't remember how many times I've wanted to quit while training, so hang in there. When I first started 14 months ago I could not run more than 1/4 mile, and I was pretty chubby. But hard work pays off, especially when you are on a race course and everyone is cheering you on. Most people never make it to a starting line, much less a finish line, so when you stand at the start for the Fargo 5K you'll already be a winner. Its not the finish time that counts, its the fact that you had the guts to even start.
Its said that we can live for 40 days without food, 7 days without water, minutes without air; but not a second without hope. So hang in there, and we'll stand together as winners at the starting line.
Jay Nelson"
I am not a runner, LOL, much like Jay~heck, I couldn't run 1/4 BLOCK! I will most likely power walk for most of the 5K, but that's OK! I will be there. I'm sitting here amazed with myself as I type that I'm gonna do this. Wow, I suppose I should start training! :-)
Would love to have you join me, go to the website and register and DO IT WITH ME!
my exercise routine currently:
Racquetball-5 times a week
Strength Training-4 times a week
Take care and I hope and pray I can inspire you to take that step to a healthier YOU!

Live Cam of Lap band surgery
Thanks mom for sending me the link to an upcoming Live Cam of Lap band surgery I will definitely watch it!
Here is another link for OR-live, some pretty cool Live Cams coming up!
Steve and Savanna got the crud I had Steve missed work Monday and Tuesday, Savanna was throwing up and in pain all night. I felt so bad for her, you feel so helpless as a parent! Glad she is feeling better today!
Missed my work out today, the treadmill is calling my name downstairs, but I don't seem to be listening! :)
I'm going in for a fill on Friday, I will probably only get 1/2 cc, but I've noticed a change in my ability to eat, not that I can pig out, but.....a bit more restriction is necessary for me.
You have a great Thursday! Thanks for reading my blogy wogy!

Sick is not fun
Wow, I have been ill, but not as ill as I was this past week!
First, the video shoot with Altru went wonderful! Lisa with Altru does a great job with making one feel at ease! Plus my experience/job helps that too! Lisa said it would be ready in a couple of weeks, as soon as it is, I will post it, plus it will be on Altrus website. The focus of the video was on the care I recieved from Altru and what the experience was like leading up to surgery and some post surgery. I have to be honest and say that i'm really looking forward to the day we tape the video sharing that i've reached my goal weight! YEAH!
Anyway, Tuesday morning I left work after the morning show and other than going into work yesteray to do some work I HAD to do, i've been in bed. You would think a person wouldn't feel tired after all that sleep, LOL, I WISH!
I do feel better today and it's a good thing, Steves cousin is getting married today! Tanisha and Steve will be up for the week end and if you are in the area, please tune in SUNDAY MORNING 9-11am on 104.3. I am hosting a new Christian Music Program called SUNDAY SONRISE. Very excited about it!
Take care and God Bless!

Watching Daytona 500, learning Storybook Creator Plus a very cool program offered by Creative Memories. Much like Photoshop, but cheaper and easier! I love it! I created the above layout in this program. Cool huh!
I'm pretty nervous about my video shoot with Altru tomorrow. Mostly because I'm not at all happy about my weight yet. So mostly to see myelf in a video is going to be hard. But, the ability to hopefully help someone else is the best feeling!
I think i'm going to go in for another fill. Probably not a full cc, maybe a half. I've noticed in the last couple weeks that every few days the restriction isn't what it was days prior. It's common tho, I could go in for a fill this time and may not need to go back for months.
I am really sore, my back muscles are hurting alot! My right wrist too! It's all good tho! Cam is a gentleman that works for Center Court Fitness and is really good at raquet ball. He gave me a brand new very cool raquet several weeks ago and Friday he showed me how to swing better and gave me some tips on how to play better. It was awesome to learn how to swing better. I am finding I really love raquet ball! It's great exercise, give it a try!
Take care,
Kerri

37 down!
It's very strange how I think i'm eating like a pig, but it's not even close to the way I used to eat! The cool thing about having Lap Band surgery is you are forced to eat right. The big reason I struggle with certain foods has more to do with the size of the bites and how fast I eat. Try it, chew your food for a really really long time, take bites that are 1/3 of the size you normally do. It's pretty cool!
Now go work out, play raquet ball and really whack that ball so you screw up your neck and it hurts! LOL....i'm a dork! My back really hurts, just in time for a nice massage for Valentines Day.
Have a lovely Valentines Day, let those you love know you love them, not just your sweetheart!
oh, i've lost 37 pounds now. Sure wish it was coming off faster, but....wait.....that's not the healthy way! (I have to keep telling myself that).
Will you pray for me? I'm over extended at work and i'm stressing. Thank you!
Take Care!

Altru has asked me to share my story
Lisa from Altru called me about a week ago and asked if I was interested in sharing my story with them for their website. You can click here to look at other patient stories. Now if you're saying, "Kerri, maybe you should wait until you've lost more weight"! Well, I asked Lisa the same thing and she said, "We can do another video down the road, but we want to focus on the New Start classes and my journey leading up to surgery". She also mentioned possibly doing a newspaper interview! Cool huh!!! There are so many people that have questions and don't understand the Lap Band procedure, and it's very exciting and rewarding for me to help share that with other people! I'll keep you posted!
Take care,
Kerri

Foods I can't eat..just in case you're wondering
Hi there! Thought I would share some of the foods I can't eat right now. (ha, probably because i'm still NOT taking small enough bites). It's really hard, i'm so used to eating fast and taking big bites, I feel like i'm taking smaller bites, but it's still not small enough!
Macaroni
bread/bagels
chicken/turkey
pizza
eggs
cheese
I can eat: chips, ice cream, dilly bars, fish, of coarse soups, tuna(kinda)-very very slow!
I'm sitting here typing as I have a bite of fish stick stuck. Man it hurts...for about 10 minutes until it finally goes down. No, water does not help...makes it worse actually! Then I really get burpy! You know, burpy and food comes back up in your mouth! I will say this tho, it keeps me from over eating! I just really have to learn to SSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOWWWWW down! Part of the problem is i'm always rushing around trying to do too many things, so taking time to eat isn't really an option for me. I'm finding I eat alot of cold food, but that's ok too.
BTW....not only do we have a CUSS JAR at work and have to put a $1 in when we cuss(money is going to St. Jude Childrens Hospital)...for lent but it dawned on me today I need to give up dilly bars. That's huge for me!
Are you exercising? How's YOUR eating going? You can do it! come on now!

Food intake and exercise
Hi there....so i've had prety good restriction over the last two weeks since my last fill. Here is a look into my eating/exercise routine.
Breakfast: oatmeal or a protein shake
snack: i've been having a can of tuna with ranch dressing
lunch: soup-usually split pea with ham
supper: it had been soup because I couldn't get much down. Now i'm able to eat a little more so i'm having chicken or fish. usually with cooked cauliflower or/and mashed potatoes. Not much tho as it doesn't take much to fill me up now. about 1/2 cup of food total.
snack: I have to be honest and tell you i'm having a dilly bar problem. LOL I love dilly bars and I don't have problems eating them, they don't get stuck! :-).....unfortunetly chocolate goes down with no problems too, so it's esy to grab chocolate.
Exercise: I am at Center Court 5 times a week. I usually play at least 30 minutes of raquet ball followed by a 30 minutes strength training workout. I chose to work out one body part per day since i'm there 5 times a week. Plus i'm using mostly free weights which I love.
I've lost 35 pounds now, down from a size 24 to an 18. My goal is a size 14! I don't have the courage to post my pictures yet, but will soon!
email me if you have any questions! kerri@97kyck.com
take care and remember...you can do it!
