So, the little 1/2cc of saline wasn't the right thing to do. My Dr told me, "Kerri, you are probably fine where you are and I would suggest not giving you a fill". Yep, should have listened, but I really had to find out for myself. At least it wasn't' as bad this time as last. I could drink water and soup and other liquids. Altho, I had pain/stuck problems with liquids.
I'm just glad I made the decision to go in and have it taken out. Alot of times "banders"-that's what we're called, will suffer thru it because we think we'll loose more weight this way. Not true. Actually, I believe it's opposite. It's taken me about 40 years to realize that.
The worst part of the last few days was the exhaustion that came with this constant battle with food stuck. It is so stressful and such an emotional drain. I become more tired than I already am and it makes exercise very difficult.
Exercise is the key, I can't stress that enough!
Dr advised me to keep food records and try different foods and see what is going to be good for ME! Of coarse, try those foods at a very slow and small rate!
It's not hard for me to admit I was wrong and she was right! I am very thankful!
Thank you Dr. S!!!
Take care and let's hope this snow melts and things dry up! I am ready for spring!

THANK YOU!
I have a fill scheduled for a week from today and I've been debating whether or not to have it. I feel like I can still eat too much, but also am feeling 'mini-stucks'. Where it's painful for a few minutes, and get the slimey feeling. I think I'll go in, but skip the fill this time around.
One of the things that's hardest to descibe to others is that while the band can help me not eat as much, you CAN still cram food down if you're not careful about HOW you're eating. I'm still working on this. I cannot get through a meal without something to drink. After 4 bites my mouth and throat are so dry that I just can't choke anything down. I'm working on taking just enough water to coat my tongue rather than that big (and painful) gulp.
What have you struggled with that has surprised you?
Question please...when you have lapband surgery do you continue to counsel with someone or in a group setting? I know a lot of success must depend on how you eat, thinking about what you are eating, making the best choices to eat and the continued support you would get...I think it's a lot of everything wrapped up into one...eating right, exercise and good mind health all go together, right?
Random thoughts I had...you're in my thoughts today :)
HI Wendy, Good choice in not getting a fill. It sounds like you are where I was and am again now.
I end up drinking too, Coke Zero is my drink of choice. Water causes me too much troubles if I drink it while I eat, but I need something, so I drink a small amount.
My biggest surprise is probably the whole band adjustments and thinking I needed more fill because I didn't feel that restricted pain. In reality, that pain is a sign we're too tight. Then seeing how little a 1/2 cc is and the difference that makes.
I am still struggling with food choices, of coarse because I have such fears of food getting stuck. With all the pain i've dealt with in the last month.
ok, great to hear from you as always!
Kerri
I don't want to overstep my bounds, but I have a partial answer to your question Kathi.
There are group support groups at Altru for people who've had or are contemplating Bariatric Surgery. There's been some talk of splitting the groups into banders and by-passers. But that's about all the info I have on them, as I have not been yet.
Hi Kerri
Can you explain how you get a fill. I do know there is some sort of port inside of you.....how does it all work - does it hurt to get a fill?
