Weight loss total and goals.......

Hi there, sure hope you're staying warm! Good thing it doesn't last! First I have lost a total of 36 pounds now! Yippy, yeah. right on! I feel great and am very proud of reaching the goals I have reached so far! Let me tell you, it's not easy to change habits and lifestyles. BUT, once you do, WOW, you feel so great! Before I started my journey to better health, I just couldn't seem to make the commitment to exersise on a regular basis. Even tho I knew I desperately needed to, I couldn't motivate myself. Understand that anybody who tells you bypass and/or lapband surgery is taking the easy way out, they do not get it. I have work hard at every pound i've lost and i'm proud of myself for changing my habits and lifestyle. Yes, I have a long way to go, but i'm on my way and you can be on your way too! I want you to stop making excuses and not making exercise a priority in your life. I don't care if you're skinny, if you desire to "get healthy", find the key to open the door to begin your journey!
Remember i'm here, just send me an email if you have any questions or need motivation.

Fill January 18-I think i'm good for awhile

It was a week ago I had my fill, and finally I feel like I'm where I want and need to be! I knew that getting a fill the day before I left for Memphis was necessary and I was right. It was pretty tuff getting food down while I was there. I'm not a big meat eater anyway, so not being able to eat ribs wasn't a big deal. What was a big deal was thinking I would be ok eating scrambled eggs, only to suffer thru the pain of them stuck. I'm not complaining, only sharing what I'm going thru. But I gotta tell you, it wasn't fun, a definite learning experience.

In the last week, I've experienced food getting stuck on a daily basis, mostly because I'm still learning what I can and can't eat. Plus I'm learning the SLOW DOWN and CHEW! Small bites! Yep, not as easy as it sounds when you're used to eating like a pig! LOL

My work outs are going great! I started lifting with Kim at Center Court! She's an excellent trainer if you ever need one! If you are trying to find the time to fit exercise into your day and haven't. I want to encourage you to "JUST DO IT"! If I was able to change my schedule and find time to work out on a daily basis, you can do it too! It's for you, your health, you only have one life/one body! Take care of it!

Make 2008 GREAT!

Wow that hurt!

I ate a few bites of turkey tonight, then about 5 minutes later, not thinking I drank a big ole drink of water and OMG, the worst pain I've felt since surgery. It was very uncomfortable for about 20 minutes, I was hackin up the water/flem..yuck...sorry :-)

I get really burpy, but if you're not careful you burp up food/Flem.... yeah, not fun

What happened was, the turkey got stuck, I drank the water, it didn't have anywhere to go so it gave me that uncomfortable pain in my back along with the burps and hacking!

LOL, sorry hope it doesn't gross you out! had to share!
Guess I should eat turkey, I've heard alot of banders can't eat turkey!

oh, played racquetball yesterday and today! Great stress reliever and awesome workout! I'm no good tho, ha ha!

take care,
Kerri

Reached a goal!

Had to share that I reached a goal! I've lost 30 pounds now!

I'm almost there!

Oh happy day! I'm almost there with my fills! I had a fill yesterday which puts my total at 6cc's of saline. I was eating some honeycomb cereal(it gets mushy) this morning and felt the feeling of "stuck". You know that pain you get when you eat too big of a bite and it hurts in your back? That's close to the feeling I get. Plus I have that satisfied feeling in my tummy, unlike prior to surgery when I sat and ate 3 BIG bowls of cereal!

I'm guessing one more fill will put me where I want to be! Yippy! That is very exciting for me on this little ole journey. I've got myself into a great workout routine, eating better, but was still able to eat too much, now that should be close to on track as well!

Have a wonderful day, I hope that sharing with you helps you in some way!
God Bless,
Kerri

LapBand thoughts

Hi there, hope you are doing wonderful! I've been thinking about something over the past week or so, thought I'd blog it. I don't think alot of people understand what Lapband surgery is. I've had several people look at me really weird when I mention I'm getting a "fill".

After surgery, you have to wait 4-6 weeks to go in for your first fill of saline. Then, it's about every two weeks that you can go in for another fill. Each time you can have 1cc of fill. The band I have is a 10cc band, meaning it can hold that much saline. Most banders are happy at about 5-6cc's. So you can see that it takes a bit of time to get where you want with this type of surgery. It also takes patients as I'm learning! :-)

I feel like people look at me expecting me to loose a BUNCH of weight really fast like by-pass surgery. That isn't how it works with LapBand. It's actually a 1-2 pound weight loss per week, for some not even that. For me, it's been about that and alot of that is because I'm exercising. Even tho I'm not satisfied with the amount of fill I have in my band, I remind myself everyday that this is a slow process and I need to be patient!
I had an excellent work out today, man it felt great! I probably should have a goal weight in mind.....several years ago I weighed 230 and looking back, I looked pretty good! BUT.....I would like to get under 200 pounds. So right here...right now....my goal weight is 199 pounds.
I started at 294 pounds, yesterday I was at 266. 67 pounds to go!
Thanks for taking the time to read my blogs, it means you care and that means the world to me!
Take Care,
Kerri
